I'm Emily!

I've been sewing since I was 5 years old, with patient grandmothers helping (or enabling) me along the way. In 2019, after grad school ended and I had settled into my new corporate gig, I found myself aching for creativity, challenge, and comfort. I pulled out my grandma's machine and haven't put it away since!

In 2024, I realized that there are other quilters out there like me: professionals disconnected from their creativity and stuck in a rut. Hot Stitch Studio was created for all those who know they don't have to be perfect to be a quilter.

I live in Portland, OR with my husband, two chihuahua mixes, and two cats. Outside of sewing, I love to read and kayak (which cross over with quilting from time to time).
